MGB has now become most common bypass Bariatric procedure in India. A long tube of stomach is created along lesser curvature of stomach in continuity with food pipe and attached to a loop of small bowel. Food has now smaller stomach to fit in so food intake is decreased. Also, food goes to distal part of small intestine bypassing its proximal portion thereby decreasing its absorption. This procedure involves more mal-absorption as compared to other procedures described above thereby may give better long term weight loss but one has to be very careful with diet and suppliments. It also helps in resolving other problems like diabetes, high blood pressure, joint pains etc. better than Sleeve Gastrectomy.
