Dr. Jasmeet Singh Ahluwalia hails from a small town of Punjab (Phagwara). Due to government job of his father he has spent most of his childhood shifting houses as his father got transferred to different places. After spending initial school years in Jammu, he finished his 10th standard from St. Joseph’s School, Phagwara and 12th from APEEJAY, Jalandhar. He joined GMC, Patiala (as his father was posted there at that time) to pursue his utmost desire – to become a surgeon one day!
After finishing his MBBS, he joined MS – Surgery at GMC, Patiala, the next step towards his goal of becoming a surgeon. But that was just the beginning.
During his MS days he developed special interest for laparoscopy and soon after finishing that, he decided to train himself under the best known name in Laparoscopy in India – Dr. C. Palanivelu. He soon joined him as a fellow for 2 years after clearing FNB entrance exam.
During his stay with Dr. Palanivelu, he met Dr. Huang in a conference who offered him a fellowship in Bariatric and Metabolic surgery (FBMS) at his centre in Taiwan which he completed successfully later.
But the love for his motherland has brought him back to his roots and after 17 years – He is back to the city he started his dream with – Jalandhar.
